The time frame was tight and the working conditions were less than ideal. Trying to make construction adhesive work in temperatures below freezing was no easy task.

Blane Casey came through in great fashion. The work was done on time. The quality was excellent at the same time, the University was not forced to reschedule any practices, camps, or events in the building.

And two of the most important things to me, as a project manager: (1) Blane Casey listened to our ideas and suggestions, and (2) after the job was essentially complete and occupied, the company continued to monitor spaces, return phone calls and respond to emails regarding minor blemishes and issues. Something most owners and clients appreciate.

I would highly recommend Blane Casey Building Contractor, Inc for your building needs. The University [of Maine] hopes we will be able to do work with BCBC again in the near future.
Claude Junkins, Project Manager

Silver Street Development Corp. recently contracted with Blane Casey Building Contractor for a major renovation to our multi-family property in Augusta, Maine. The property is called Glenridge apartments, and it consists of 150 two and three-bedroom units. The contract amount was in excess of 4 million, and the renovations were performed on both the exterior and interior of the apartments.

Although I had no previous experience working with Blane or his people, I would not hesitate to use them again on another project. The workmanship was exceptional, the supervision and administration of the project was very professional and Blane’s employees and subcontractors were great to work with. Although the apartments were occupied by tenants while the renovations were underway, everything went smoothly. My company knows from previous experience on similar projects that working in occupied units can be problematic, and not all contractors are up to the task. Blane and his people proved that they were. They treated our tenants and their property with great respect, and they carefully planned their work each day to minimize inconvenience or disruptions.

We encountered some budget problems on this job due to the rundown conditions of the property and some unexpected problems after renovations began. Blane was very helpful in his cost-saving suggestions to meet our budget requirements before work began and he dealt with us fairly on unexpected problems that arose after the contract was signed.

I would recommend Blane Casey Building Contractor to anyone contemplating any major construction improvements.

I used Blane Casey Building Contractor on a multi-family apartment project in Augusta, Maine. I found this contractor to be extraordinary resourceful, competent and efficient. The company cooperated with me in every possible way. They are very knowledgeable in estimating and controlling budgets. They are very good about staying on time in complex project situations. I would have no hesitation what so ever to us Blane Casey Building Contractor in the future.

Coastal Enterprises Inc.

I am pleased to write this letter of support for Blane Casey [Building Contractor, Inc] with who we have worked with on several projects. We were fortunate to have Blane Casey complete Market Square Commons, a 28-unit apartment building in Houlton. Blane renovated 40 apartments at the Westbranch Terrace in Pittsfield and he previously constructed Pond Circle, a single-family subdivision in Damariscotta. Overall, we have worked with Blane to build or renovate one hundred units or more with a value well in excess of five million dollars.

Blane Casey was awarded these projects through the competitive bid processes, which demonstrates that his company competes well on a cost basis. In addition, the quality of work provided compares quite well to other contractors. The Construction of Market Square Commons is so tight that was recognized by the building commissioning engineering as the tightest building he has ever tested. We are very pleased with the value, appearance and durability of the buildings constructed by Blane Casey [Building Contractor, Inc].

The best thing that I can say about Blane is that he continually shows himself to be a person of good character. The inevitable disputes that arise in large construction projects are easily resolved through a process of fairness and compromise. He is committed to moving the project forward in a positive manner and he has never hesitated to correct warranty issues. I highly recommend Blane Casey Building Contractor, Inc.

Blane Casey and his crew have performed a number of building projects for my company over the last 10 years, to include ground up’s, raise/remodel and remodel/additions. They have done for us both contractual bid projects and build to suit projects.

I have found them affordable and conscientious of budget matters. Blane is very knowledgeable contractor and helpful in providing suggestions and affordable alternatives. I have also found him to be fair when addressing inevitable need for change orders when they arise. His crews are very conscientious and perform quality work. He is also careful to assure the subcontractor crew’s he hires out are also doing the same quality work. In summary, I have a great deal of confidence in Blane and his crew to so as they promise.

Reed & Reed

Blane constructed the operations and maintenance building as a subcontractor to Reed & Reed on the Rollins and Bull Hill wind projects in Maine. Blane did a very good job on these projects. His work was done safely and on time. He was sensitive to our schedule constraints. He gave us a good, quality building, and did not try to constantly submit extras for additional payment.

Blane was a pleasure to work with and we would not hesitate to work with him again.
Patrick A. DeFilipp, P.E., Sr. Project Manager

Bank of Maine

Blane Casey Building Contractor was retained by the new Kennebec Ice Arena Corporation in Hallowell Maine to design and build a new ice arena after the collapse of the original arena. Blane Casey’s Firm was chosen from three finalists because of their knowledge and understanding of our situation and their ability to develop sketches and working drawings that were instrumental in providing KIA with a modern functional facility that is both unique in its design and architecturally pleasing to the eye. Construction was split into two contracts, one for the ice package and the other for the building itself. BCBC’s work was varied and complex. Using the “Murox System” of assembling insulated building panels, erection time was kept to a minimum. All aspects of the building process including Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Interior Carpentry, Drywall and Painting were completed within budget in a workmanlike manner, with the end result being a fine new ice arena facility named “The Bank of Maine Ice Vault” that is a credit to both BCBC and the Hallowell, Augusta region and one of which we can all be proud. The Beacon Project

Blane Casey [Building Contractor, Inc] constructed for The Beacon Project a six-bedroom adult family care home in Islesboro. From inception to completion of this project, all of our interactions with this firm, whether for business or project management, were pleasant and professional. The project was completed essentially on schedule in spite of the challenges of working on an island through a harsh winter.

The member of our board who oversaw every element of the building construction on our behalf has stated that the project was excellently planned, managed and executed, and coordination of subcontractors and materials were delivered and handled well. Project Administration procedures establish by the architect were strictly adhered to, field supervision was professional and project specification were followed.

We have already recommended and will continue to praise and recommend this company.

 Capitol City Tire & Service

I have had the opportunity to work with Blane Casey Building Contractor, Inc. on the construction of my building located on Riverside Drive in Augusta. My building is well constructed and I found your staff to be very professional during the construction process.

I later added an addition to the building and Blane Casey also completed that project for me. It was also completed in a timely manner and to my satisfaction. The quality of workmanship was outstanding on both projects and their ability to supervise other trades is an asset to their company.

I recommend Blane Casey Building Contractor for your upcoming construction needs.
Brian Gordon, President

Acadia Hospital

Acadia Hospital would like to thank you for the prompt and professional construction services recently regarding the construction of a new addition to the Medical Office Building at Acadia Hospital.

As new technology and construction moves forward it brings on new challenges in meeting the customer and contractor’s needs. Recognizing these challenges, you demonstrated a team effort in working with Acadia Hospital and were very prompt in delivery of the project that was seen as not achievable by other contractors. Blane, your quality of work and willingness to do as needed in completing the project on time is a true testament of a quality contractor that share equal values in achieving a common goal.

Again, I would like to thank you for your services and look forward to working with you in the future!

MSAD #70

I want to thank your firm for working MSAD #70 on the elevator project for Hodgdon Middle/High School. It was obvious from the beginning that installing a new elevator and elevator shaft in a building erected in 1937 with many subsequent renovations would be a challenge. Secondly, we requested that costs be under $250,000 for the entire project. Our Consultant recommended Blane Casey Building Contractor for the job and said that he was confident that they would do the work and he was correct.

From the beginning bid on the project to the last inspection to certify the elevator, the project manager and his staff did a great job. As expected, the project met with many problems and obstacles but they crew always was upbeat and figured out a solution that would work for all involved. Once school began the crew was always mindful of the needs of the students and staff as they continued the project. The professionalism and courteous we were treated with was greatly appreciated.

Th end product is a very practical and modern elevator in a very old building so that the needs of all students and staff can be met with complete compliance to ADA. For that we are grateful! I would highly recommend Blane Casey Building Contractor, Inc. to any business or school looking for professional contractor to do a thorough job.
Scott Richardson, Superintendent of Schools

Rangeley Lake State Park

We are very impressed with the great job your company and its subcontractors did on the recently completed Rangeley Lake State Park shower building and the extensive site work. The building is one of the finest constructed for the Bureau of Parks and Lands in recent years!

The project created a 10 unit, 1,500 square foot masonry, ADA compliant, unisex restroom/shower building. In addition, there were extensive utility upgrades, including sanitary disposal systems, and water systems.

I’d like to especially commend your superintendent, for his fine coordination and expertise in solving problems and obtaining the highest quality workmanship. He went beyond the call to achieve the highest standards of construction and was especially cooperative to assure minimal disruption to park users.
John Picher, Director of Engineering and Realty

Community Health and Counseling Services

I am the finance director at Community Health and Counseling Services and was the owner’s representation for two recent projects in Brewer, Maine. One is twelve units of affordable housing for the homeless and the other is an 8-bed psychiatric Crisis Stabilization Facility. Of course, each financing source had its own requirements for inspections, payments certifications, and even building construction standards. Blane Casey’s team was able to thread its way through this funding maze with considerable success.

Change orders were minimal in amount, which was important because construction contingency funds were themselves minimal. At the end of construction, however, there was enough contingency to purchase the appliances for the 12 unit apartments and supply most of the new furnishings for the Crisis Stabilization facility. Generally, the projects ran very smooth. Project management and site supervision were excellent, and Blane Casey was always available when needed. We were pleased with both the process and the outcome, I am very happy to recommend Blane Casey Building Contractor, Inc. for your considerations.
Richard Israel, Finance Director at Community Health and Counseling Services

Penobscot Valley Hospital

It has been a pleasure working with you and your staff on our medical office building project. Communication between yourself and your foreman and I was excellent throughout the preparation and construction phases. This allowed for immediate resolutions to any problems or concerns encountered. I especially appreciate your honesty and straight forward approach.

The end result was a high-quality product. Minor deficiencies that were quickly resolved on the final punch list.
Paul Smith, Director of Support Services

Superintendent of Schools

Mr. Casey started on time, finished the project a month ahead of schedule and did an excellent job.  I have been a superintendent in this state for thirty years and during this period I have had twelve school construction projects and this one was the most efficient to date.
Richard E. A. Marx, Superintendent of Schools

 Town of Jay

The Town of Jay hired Blane Casey [Building Contractor], to build a fire station in North Jay.

Mr. Casey and his staff always promptly addressed any questions, concerns or changes that arose during the project. They worked well with the town crew that did all of the site work. They did quality work on all phases of the project.

I would not hesitate to use Blane Casey [Building Contractor, Inc.] again on a future project.
Cornell F. Knight, Town Manager
